Cornwall Food at National Hospital Caterers Association Conference


Cornwall Food took an active part in this years Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) National Conference in Birmingham last month, the conference at which over 350 delegates attended was entitled Engineering the Future. Held over two days with attendees from all over the country the Conference provided a wealth of information and the opportunity to network. Speakers included Matt Dawson, Jay Rayner the food critic and Liz Jones Head of Patient Environment for the NHS amongst others and included a video of a meal time companion who helps out at Treliske hospital which went down very well with the audience.


Cornwall Food played an active part, Mike Pearson hosted the Conference for two days and was able to promote his philosophy of local food purchasing and sustainability whilst at the same time controlling the conference and looking after the speakers, describing it as a great honour and something that not many people get to do in the course of their career Mike thoroughly enjoyed himself, particularly as he got to wear a microphone like Madonna!

Bruce Cross Cornwall Food Operations Manager was there to meet with other suppliers and delegates to spread the word about Cornwall Food but also for another reason, Bruce had been nominated for the prestigious Caterer of the Year Award, this is one of the top accolades from the HCA , nomination are received from all over the country so to get to the final three was a tremendous achievement and a recognition of all the hard work that Bruce has done over the last year
