Earlier this year Cornwall Food had a special visit from Trewirgie School.

The school had kindly agreed to help us in developing and refreshing the paediatric menu at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. This was no easy task for all of the 100 the children as we asked them to consider how the meal presents on the plate, colour combinations, achieving a healthy balance meal throughout the day, remembering what is on the menu the day before and the day after, and of course they have to think about cost of ingredients.

Everybody at the unit plus Jeremy from Scorse in Helston helped as we devised a whole host of activities throughout the day all of which were a huge hit with the children.

The kids described the whole visit as “awesome” and “brilliant” and many said that they would like to work here when they grow up! They enjoyed walking around the unit the best, closely followed by the food tasting which was “yummy”.
